Terms and Conditions

These terms apply to all purchases made through smallstepsexplorers.com. By placing an order, you confirm that you have read and accepted them. If you have any questions before buying, please contact us at hello@smallstepsexplorers.com — we're always happy to help.
1. About us
Small Steps Explorers is owned and operated by Tory Mallett and Jeff Sinick, based in Basel, Switzerland. We design and sell city scavenger hunt kits for families travelling with young children.

2. Our products
We sell two types of product:
Digital kits — printable PDF files delivered by email download link immediately after purchase. No physical item is shipped.
Physical kits — printed and assembled kits posted to the delivery address you provide. Dispatch and delivery times are indicated at checkout and on your order confirmation.
Product descriptions, including hunt content and route details, are accurate at the time of publication. Cities change. If a specific stop in a hunt has closed or moved, we will note this on the product page and, where possible, update the kit. We cannot guarantee that every landmark or venue mentioned will be available on the day of your visit.
3. Ordering
When you place an order, you are making an offer to purchase. Your order is confirmed when you receive a confirmation email from us. We reserve the right to decline orders in exceptional circumstances.
You are responsible for providing accurate delivery details. We cannot be held responsible for non-delivery resulting from an incorrect address.
4. Prices and payment
All prices are shown in the currency indicated at checkout and include any applicable taxes. Payment is processed securely via Squarespace Payments. We do not store your card details.
We reserve the right to change prices at any time. The price you pay is the price shown at the time you place your order.
5. Digital products — licence and use
When you purchase a digital kit, you receive a personal, non-transferable licence to:
Download and print the files for your own family's use
Print multiple copies for your own personal use (e.g. to bring a spare)
You may not:
Share, resell, or redistribute the files to others
Upload the files to any third-party platform or file-sharing service
Use the content commercially or modify it for resale
All design, text, and illustration in our kits is the intellectual property of Small Steps Explorers. Unauthorised reproduction is prohibited.
Because digital products are delivered immediately on purchase, you acknowledge that by downloading the file you lose your right to cancel the order under distance selling regulations. We will make this clear at the point of checkout.
6. Returns and refunds
Physical kits
If your physical kit arrives damaged or with a fault, please contact us within 14 days of receipt with a description and photo. We will send a replacement or issue a full refund, at your choice.
If you change your mind, you may return an unopened physical kit within 14 days of receipt, at your own cost. Once we receive it in resalable condition, we will refund the product price. We do not refund original postage costs unless the item was faulty.
Digital kits
Because digital files are delivered immediately, we do not offer refunds once a file has been downloaded, unless the file is defective (e.g. corrupted or not as described). If you have a problem with a downloaded file, contact us and we will resolve it promptly.

7. Delivery — physical kits
Estimated dispatch and delivery times are shown at checkout. We post from Basel, Switzerland. We are not responsible for delays caused by postal services or customs processes outside our control.
If your order has not arrived within the estimated window, please contact us and we will investigate.
8. Limitation of liability
Our kits are designed to be used outdoors, in public spaces, with adult supervision at all times. You are responsible for your child's safety during any activity.
We accept no liability for:
Injuries sustained during use of our products
Changes to third-party venues or routes described in a kit
Loss or damage caused by force majeure events beyond our control
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for any liability that cannot be excluded under Swiss law.
To the extent permitted by law, our total liability to you in connection with any order is limited to the amount you paid for that order.
9. Intellectual property
All content on this website — including text, images, illustrations, and hunt content — is owned by or licensed to Small Steps Explorers. You may not reproduce, copy, or distribute any part of this website without our written permission.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by Swiss law. Any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Basel, Switzerland.
If you are based in the European Union, you also retain any consumer rights that apply under the law of your country of residence that cannot be excluded by contract.
For EU consumers, the European Commission provides an online dispute resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent version. Material changes will be communicated to active customers by email.
